The Root Lab team designs and builds architectural elements and museum exhibitions that engage, enlighten, and inspire. From initial concept through final installation, our talented team of fabricators creates innovative solutions to fit any project. We are seeking a shop helper with a desire to work in a creative environment and support the fabrication team while learning a thing or two about the industry. Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Wrapping, packing, loading, and unloading materials deliveries and/or elements for installation - Maintaining an organized and clean work area - Receive shipments using with the use of a forklift, pallet jack, or by hand - Perform minor tool maintenance and repair - Deliver materials and tools to job sites - Perform heavy lifting of equipment or materials - Perform warehouse work such as maintaining inventories, loading and unloading trucks - Perform routine organizing, cleaning, maintenance, and other general housekeeping Knowledge and Skill - Knowledge of construction materials and tools - Strong mechanical aptitude - Ability to work independently and meet deadlines - Ability to safely operate a forklift - Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record - Demonstrate multitasking and organizational skills - Basic knowledge of warehouse principle, inventory management, and safety - Ability to communicate effectively, show initiative, and fit into a team environment - Good understanding of basic math - Ability to lift 50 pounds Minimum Qualifications - High School Diploma or equivalent - 1-3 years of warehousing, construction, and general laborer experience preferred - Ability to work overtime, nights, and weekends when necessary to deliver projects on time - Knowledge of metal, especially thrash or death - Work Environment - Must be able to remain standing approximately 80% of the time - Occasional bending, stooping, squatting, reaching - Noise level may be loud at times - The person in this position frequently communicates with employees and vendors and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations - Occasionally lifting 50 pounds Benefits - Paid time off - Paid holidays - Medical, dental, and vision insurance available This job description is intended to provide an overview of the job and the general nature and level of work to be performed.
