The StoryIt's time for a story that empowers the people to make the changes we want to see in our cities. It's time to dismantle systems of oppression and injustice that target Black and Brown communities. It's time to remove the invisible asterisk from the phrase, "justice for all." It's time! When a beloved barber is killed by police, his sister and best friend take justice into their own hands, uniting their southern community to fight police brutality and corruption. Our story takes place in Charlotte, North Carolina--one of the top-ten fastest-growing cities in the United States. When you explore the city you take in the modern skyline, the trendy diversity, and the southern charm. But watch your step, or you'll trip over the deep roots of the confederate south. About the MicroshortThanks to the generosity of the North Carolina Arts & Science Council, we received funding to film this 10-minute scene from the upcoming feature-length film "Know Justice Know Peace." We're thrilled to present the microshort scene to you at this Juneteenth event! The full-length film is currently in development and will begin production this Winter 2021. The microshort serves as a preview of the powerful film to come, with an anticipated release date to coincide with mid-term elections in 2022! Our hope is to use "Know Justice Know Peace" as a catalyst to bring real change in our city, state and country. Ours is a Charlotte-based story--so of course it will be filmed here! From the producers, actors and crew, to local black-owned businesses (such as Dupp & Swat), this film will make Charlotte proud. Come show your support for your city and your people!
