MILWAUKEE, WI — Milwaukee's mask mandate will expire June 1, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
Mayor Tom Barrett announced in a press conference Tuesday that the city's COVID-19 health orders, including the mask mandate, will end on June 1, the paper reported.
Businesses will be able to decide for themselves if they prefer other guidelines, the paper reported.
CDC guidelines from last Thursday state that fully vaccinated people no longer need to wear masks in almost all cases. The CDC still recommends masks to be worn in some public transportation facilities and most K-12 schools.
Retailers across the state have already dropped their mask mandates unless other municipal guidelines exist.
Wisconsin has not had a statewide mask mandate since the State Supreme Court struck it down alongside Tony Evers' emergency health order.
