GLEN COVE, NY — Glen Cove School District voters approved a $96 million spending plan for the 2021-22 school year and elected four school board trustees on Tuesday. The budget was approved with 1,050 votes in favor, and 655 opposed. The proposed spending plan represents a 3.4% spending increase over last year, as well as a school tax levy of 1.66%. The top four candidates who garnered the most votes that secured seats on the Board of Education included Maureen Jimenez, Anne Markoulls, Meghan Lavine, and Dr. Angela Raimo. Jimenez garnered 1,079 votes, Markoulls 1,061, Lavine 980, and Raimo 823. Candidates Gail Nedbor-Gross garnered 564 votes, David Huggins 526, Susan Jerzewski 392, and Audrey Lynn Hurston 280. Jimenez, Markoulls, and Lavine will serve three-year terms, and Raimo will serve out the remainder of a one-year term.
