NORWALK, CT — A husband and wife have been identified by police as the two people who died of gunshot wounds over the weekend in Norwalk. Rajneesh Misra, 56, and Divya Misra, 55, were found dead in their Chatham Drive home late Sunday afternoon, police Lt. Joe Dinho said in a news release Monday. Residents in the Chatham Drive area reported hearing gunshots around 4 p.m., according to Dinho. Norwalk police surrounded the area of 35 Chatham Dr. and neighbors were evacuated from their homes for their safety, Dinho said. One of the initial callers to police was an adult son who reported an incident between his father and mother, Dinho said. After a number of attempts were made to contact the residents inside the home, officers ultimately entered and discovered the couple's bodies, Dinho said. "There were no previous domestic violence issues reported to police," Dinho said in a release. "However this is still an active investigation. Members of the Norwalk Police Department are assisting the family as they navigate this devastating incident while honoring their privacy." On Sunday, police said on its Facebook page two people had died as a result of gunshot wounds at the home. Earlier in the day, residents were told to shelter in place due to an armed person in the area. Police also noted investigators had remained in the area to determine the events leading up to the deaths.
