Description

Explore the upland and mangrove ecosystems of Clam Bayou before completing a litter cleanup service project. Join Keep Pinellas Beautiful in partnership with the City of St. Petersburg and FDOT for an eco-tour of Clam Bayou Nature Preserve. We'll explore the ecosystems and unique water features of the park, including watersheds and the interface between urban and natural areas, the way litter makes its way into this waterbody, and how our actions contribute to keeping green spaces like these healthy. We'll also take a look at the new Litter Gitter floating debris abatement device! After the hike, we will complete an hour-long litter cleanup service project. KPB will provide all cleanup materials needed, plus t-shirts. We encourage participants to bring reusable water bottles. Directions: Head to Perry Bayview Park (the intersection of 27th Ave S and 38th Ave S; GPS: 27.743953, -82.685412). We will be set up on the grass near the water, just beyond the playground. Parking: Street parking is available. What to wear: Please wear weather-appropriate clothes and closed-toe shoes. Keep Pinellas Beautiful is following CDC recommendations regarding wearing masks, so please have one with you. **Please note that the restrooms are not at our initial meeting place. There are restrooms available near the kayak launch, which we will visit during our walk.** There is no need to print a ticket to attend. Please contact Alexandra Shostak at [email protected] if you have any questions!
