The empathize with people who are similar to them more so than people of a differing demographic. Fear is linked more often to leaning conservative, whereas feeling safer can lead people to lean more liberal. Decades of research have shown that people get more conservative when they feel threatened and afraid. Conservatives feel like they have something to lose. Liberals tend to be more giving and compassionate. Conservatives tend to be more greedy and self serving. Liberals tend to be more generous and giving. Conservative tent to always loo out for “number one” Liberals tend to have more of a tribe or team mentality. Conservatives tend to be pessimistic (glass half empty mentality) Liberals tend to be optimistic (glass half full mentality).
