Fill out this Patch Candidate Profile Form, and email a photo to [email protected], and we'll let voters know about your candidacy. Why are you seeking elective office? I believe that I have been an effective leader of the Amherst Planning Board in a difficult time and want to continue to serve my community. The single most pressing issue facing our (board, district, etc.) is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it. Maintaining open space while still acknowledging landowners' rights. This requires careful planning and equally careful scrutiny of all proposed projects. What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post? I have over 20 years experience on this board including as Chairman and demonstrated competence and care for adhering to requirements of our town's land use ordinances and regulations. If you are a challenger, in what way has the current board or officeholder failed the community (or district or constituency) How do you think local officials performed in responding to the coronavirus? What if anything would you have done differently? Describe the other issues that define your campaign platform. What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job? My work on the Planning Board over the past twenty plus years is the most pertinent accomplishment. In the past year, I have tried--mostly successfully I think--to lead the Planning Board in a fair and competent way. The best advice ever shared with me was: What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions? My view is that the Planning Board's job is to serve the town as a whole. We are not there to support particular individuals or applicants but to do our best for the community.
