ECHO Shelter Atascadero is currently looking for Overnight Chaperone Volunteers. Shifts will vary. Position Description: Two volunteers are needed each night from 5:30pm-7am (13.5 hours) to supervise and work in a supportive role with shelter residents. Chaperones take turns sleeping in shifts, with one chaperone awake at all times. Shift start/end time can be flexible if needed. Volunteers can start as late as 9:00pm and leave as early as 5:00am (NOTE: time adjustments must be discussed in advance). Training: Volunteers will undergo orientation/training during their first shift. Volunteer requirements: Must enjoy working in a supportive role with others. Overnight chaperoning can satisfy court-mandated community service hours- ECHO is a non-profit 501(c) ECHO (El Camino Homeless Organization) provides shelter for some of the unhoused men, women, and children in SLO County, 365 nights a year.
