GO Seed is looking for a Research Technician to join our team at our Salem, Oregon location. This is an entry level position that will expose you to many facets of the seed industry. GO Seed is the leader in sustainable seed solutions in cover crop, forage, and turf seed. If you are looking to be a part of a fun-loving, team; this position could be for you. Research Technician Duties – As Research Technician you will assist the Research Director and plant breeders in daily research activities. This position involves a lot of outdoors work. This includes transplanting of plants, hoeing and manual weeding, application of herbicides with a backpack sprayer, mowing and tractor work. In the late Spring/Summer you will assist in rating and measuring plants and harvesting of seed. In late summer/fall attention shifts to the cleaning and processing of seed samples. This may include working in inclement weather, often by yourself. May require some travel to our other research locations. Requirements • Must be personable and outgoing • Have a positive attitude. • Tolerate exposure to outside elements,50+ % of your duties will be outside. • Perform physical work, lifting up to 50 lbs. occasionally • Understand verbal and written English • Ability to understand and comply with any and all safety requirements. • Strong organizational skills, able to work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. • Strong work ethic and dependability. • Team player. • Valid Oregon Driver License Preferred Qualifications • Agricultural or landscaping experience. • Mechanical aptitude and the ability to maintain equipment.
