Maintenance Worker II – Water Distribution Water Division Public Works Department Application deadline: Wednesday, June 2, 2021 Visit www.icgov.org/jobs to apply online One permanent full-time position available Full salary range: $46,300.80 - $59,612.80 Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:00am – 3:30pm Job summary: Under general direction, installs, maintains and repairs the City’s water distribution system. Operates heavy equipment to perform general and emergency construction, maintenance and repair of water mains and related facilities. Performs location of underground water and fiber utilities, water taps and related water customer service work. Investigates customer service complaints. Minimum qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required. Two years of experience in heavy labor and construc¬tion or equivalent required. Iowa DNR Grade I Water Distribution Certification required within one year of appointment. Iowa DNR Grade II Water Distribution Certification required within three years of appointment. Must live within 17 miles of the corporate limits of Iowa City, Iowa within one year of appointment to the position. Valid Iowa Class B commercial driver's license with air brake and tank endorsements required within 90 days of hire. Valid Iowa Class A commercial driver's license required within 6 months of hire. This position is subject to federal drug testing requirements including screening through the FMCSA Clearinghouse. A pre-employment drug screen is required. Must be 18 years of age per Iowa Code 92.8. Must pass criminal background check. Preferred qualifications: Iowa DNR Grade II Water Distribution Certification preferred. Three years of experience in water system installation and repair preferred.
