There are many jobs that Americans simply will not take. Housecleaning, gardening, fast food employees, dishwashers, hotel maids, car wash employees. The list goes on and on. Without immigrant labor in this country we would have a HUGE gap in our labor market. EVERY American who utilizes thee trades is “hiring undocumented workers”. Every time you order a taco from Taco Bell or a burger from McDonalds, you are hiring immigrant labor. Every time you stay at a motel 6 or Trump hotel, you are hiring immigrant labor. If you want your house painted or a new roof, chances are, you are hiring immigrant labor. Every time you buy produce grown in many states of the U.S., you are hiring immigrants. Immigrants are willing to fill the gap in the labor market that Americans do not want. They clean our office buildings and our schools. They run cafeterias at our hospitals. They make your morning latte. The problem in America is NOT immigration. The problem in America is that our government fails to document these worksers. Our government makes it near impossible to be documented in the U.S. as an immigrant worker. Trillions of tax dollars per year go uncollected because our federal government refuses to give papers to these valued members of our community. We need to carefully vet every applicant. Non criminal immigrants should be given the equivalent to a social security number so employer an collect taxes on their wages. Let’s document these workers and make them a valued part of our society. America would struggle without immigrant labor. So unless you want to pay $7 for a Big Mac, lets get them documented.
