Helping to plant a community garden with the Rickenbacker Woods Foundation for the Livingston Avenue corridor! Columbus Gives Back is looking for volunteers like you to help our friends at the Rickenbacker Woods Foundation plant a community garden! When:  Saturday, June 5th, 2021, 10AM- 1PM Event Leaders: [email protected] Where: We will meet at 1330 E. Livingston Avenue Columbus, Ohio 43205, behind the Eddie Rickenbacker House. COVID-19 Precautions: In an effort to keep our volunteers, event leaders, and non-profit partners safe, all Columbus Gives Back volunteers are required to wear face masks and observe social distancing as appropriate to complete volunteer tasks. Volunteers who are sick, especially with fever or the growing number of Covid-19 symptoms, should stay home. We highly recommend that our volunteers wash their hands, use hand sanitizer at the beginning and end of the event, and/or wear gloves. We will follow whatever safety policy our nonprofit partners have in addition to the safety precautions listed above. Any volunteers determined to neglect these precautions and put other volunteers or the people we serve at risk will be dismissed from the event. About the Rickenbacker Woods Foundation: The Rickenbacker Woods Foundation is the caretaker of the boyhood home of Captain Eddie Rickenbacker, which is a national historic landmark, located on Livingston Avenue.  They hold many events for the community, including a free Family Fun Day, with free food and activities, free indoor and outdoor Movie Nights, and an Aviation Camp held by the Ohio Memorial Chapter of the Tuskegee Airmen, and more. About Columbus Gives Back: Columbus Gives Back coordinates group volunteer events with local non-profits, organizes philanthropic happy hours to raise support and awareness for our non-profit partners, and participates in other philanthropic events while emphasizing our social twist: to have fun with volunteers new and old during and after events in the hopes of creating a culture of community engagement amongst our target audience of young professionals. #SocialTwist: Social Twists have been suspended until further notice, but typically we will also encourage volunteers to join us afterwards for food and drinks to better get to know the other cool folks in our group! Rather we encourage each of our volunteers to support local business during this time.
