In order to observe this capacity, guests may reserve 30 minute time slots to attend this event via timed ticketing. If max capacity in the gallery has been reached, you will be asked to wait until visitors leave the space. For everyone's safety, we ask for your patience and understanding. Stay home if they do not feel well, have been diagnosed with COVID-19, or had direct contact with an individual diagnosed with or suspected to have COVID-19.All guests MUST provide contact tracing information.At all times, all visitors must wear a mask, maintain social distancing, and follow other Covid-19 instructions in place. No more than two people may ride the elevator at the same time. Visitors who do not follow these regulations will be asked to leave the premises. AccessibilityA wheelchair accessible ramp is located on the northeast side of the building, near the main entrance. An interior elevator provides access to the exhibition gallery, located on the fourth floor. A wheelchair is also kept on-site and is available for loan to those visiting the museum and archives. Museums and Archives Studies Certificate ProgramOffered through the Cummings Center for the History of Psychology's Institute for Human Science and Culture at The University of Akron, the 18-credit hour certificate offers an introduction to foundations in museums and archives that provide students with a basic set of skills that prepares them for work in museums and archives professions and for graduate study in these areas. Topics covered include materials handling, preservation, exhibition design, assessment, organizing and describing materials, policies and procedures, donor relations, education, and cultural considerations. The Institute for Human Science and Culture (IHSC) is a multidisciplinary institute that promotes education and research in the history, preservation, documentation, and interpretation of the human experience. The mission of the IHSC is to explore what it means to be human. The IHSC promotes document- and object-based, experiential education in arts, humanities, and science. The IHSC is one of three branches of the Cummings Center. The Drs. Nicholas & Dorothy Cummings Center for the History of Psychology (CCHP) cares for, provides access to, and interprets the historical record of psychology and related human sciences. In addition to the IHSC, the Center is the home of the Archives of the History of American Psychology (AHAP) and the National Museum of Psychology (NMP).
