Description

Celebrate Spring and Stories with a brand-new free program with The RED Bookshelf and the Discover Albany Visitor Center: Books and Blooms! Families will arrive at the Discover Albany Visitor Center, where we will engage in a hands-on building blocks activity to build your own community. We want to see what you think makes our community special! After the build, families will meet in Discover Albany’s secret garden and engage in a spirited- reading of a spring time themed story book with local author TaSean Murdock. Following the reading, we’ll meet with a local gardener from the Eden Rose Foundation, who provide handy planting tips and tricks, so we can add pops of color and joy all over our own communities. All participants who attend Books and Blooms will receive a FREE copy of a book of their own and a planting to take home with them! This event is free, but reservations via Eventbrite are encouraged in order to maintain social distance guidelines and to be sure we have enough materials for everyone. Books and writers walkthrough provided by the RED Bookshelf and MVP Health Care with local author TaSean Murdock. Follow The RED Bookshelf and Discover Albany on Facebook and Instagram for more updates on our Books and Blooms summer series! We encourage everyone to join us as we tour the city and inspire everyone to read for 15 minutes each day! By registering for this event, you affirm that each member of your party will abide by CDC guidelines for COVID-19. All members of your party over the age of two years old must wear a mask and maintain social distance from other parties. We ask that families not participate in the event if they are displaying any symptoms of COVID-19; and that Discover Albany and The RED Bookshelf will not be held liable for any injury or illness.
