Den Hill Permaculture is hiring! We are a small farm outside of Blacksburg and Christiansburg in Ellett Valley. We grow a wide variety of produce plus mushrooms, medicinals herbs as well as brew and sell kombucha under our second business name, Tea Beast Kombucha. We use sustainable growing practices from biological, organic and permaculture farming. Help us create a sustainable future by working in your local food system today! We sell produce at the Blacksburg Farmers Markets and wholesale. Employees will be trained to work across our entire operation, from seeding to market. It is required that interested applicants have a driver's license. We are looking for a part/full time paid worker with farm, landscaping or gardening experience. Preferably comfortable on outside power equipment like weed eaters, tillers and mowers. We also always welcome volunteers, in case you are worried about the time commitment but still want to learn a little and work outside. We are always happy to trade food for labor. The job requires a lot of picking and planting, some on your knees and squatting. You will learn how to plant, grow, manage, harvest and prepare crops for market. Part of the work is going to markets and running a farm stand. The person is expected to work on some weekends. The position will also require someone who has strong customer service skills and can be outgoing and inviting. We want our staff to be involved every step of the way from farm to table. Seasonal positions last through November but we have been attending market and growing year round so there are limited year round positions available. Email your resume with your response to this ad.
