NUID is currently recruiting for a position in the 63 Ditchrider classification. Under general supervision, positions in the Ditchrider classification regulate the flow and distribution of irrigation water to growers, canals, and ditches; responds to complaints and inquiries from growers; patrols assigned area daily to detect leaks, breaks, and obstructions or damage in the irrigation system; initiates weed control, debris removal and emergency repairs to canals and maintains accurate records of daily deliveries, users, water amounts used, and other data required by law.
Non-Irrigation Season - General maintenance of district facilities, buildings, and housing. Construction and repair of concrete delivery facilities and structures. Duties related to pipeline construction/repair (under/aboveground) including performing hand labor and use of power hand tools, and operation of dump trucks and heavy equipment. General maintenance activities can extend from Wickiup Reservoir near LaPine to the Deschutes River Canyon north of Madras. This position is represented under a Collective Bargaining Agreement. Starting wage $16.54 - $21.04 DOE.
