Description
We are searching for 2 personal care workers to work a combined total of 60 in-home hours per week (could be one 40 hour and one 20 hour, or two 30 hours a week). The jobs entail the following:
-providing physical and behavioral support for a six-year-old child with cerebral palsy and a nine-year-old child with autism spectrum disorder who are brothers in their home and where they go. This includes learning physical therapy routines for the child with cerebral palsy, dressing, bathing, etc.
-general family support (cleaning, cooking, errands, general domestic support)
-lifting 50lbs
No training is required and all training will be provided on the job by someone with professional experience in behavioral health. Hours include weekdays and weeknights, generally from noon until around 10pm. There is some flexibility in the hourly schedule and it can be changed week to week based on needs of the children or the caregivers who are hired.
Workers will be required to be punctual and to meet at least weekly with a supervisor to manage the behavior plan for the children. Strict enforcement of children's goal-oriented behavior plans is essential.
Preference goes to:
-those with experience working with children or raising children
-those with experience working with children with disabilities
-those with experience in education
-those committed to working at least six months but preferably at least one year or longer
A background check will be required. 40 hours of the funding will come from a government program that is unionized and provides some sick and vacation time each month. The other 20 hours will be paid in cash by the family.
Interviews can happen immediately and position may start in a trial position paid by cash from the family before committing to full time.
