FALMOUTH, MA — A house fire displaced a family of three Sunday morning in Falmouth. Fire officials said the call for the fire came in around 5:40 a.m., at the 20th block of Albatross Street. Smoke billowed from three sides of the second floor of the two-story, wood-framed home. Firefighters came with three fire engines, but officials said they needed to call another one to extinguish the flames. Firefighters also needed to go inside to attack the fire on the second floor. The home's residents — an adult and three children — got out of the house safely after their smoke detector alerted them, fire officials said. Fire officials said the fire was out around 6:30 a.m. Overhaul and clean-up were completed by 8:00 a.m. The damage from the fire made the home uninhabitable, according to fire officials, so residents will stay with relatives temporarily. The exact cause of the fire remains under investigation. Joint Base Cape Cod and Mashpee Fire provided station coverage, while Falmouth firefighters extinguished the flames.
