Description

Press release from CGA House Democrats: May 17, 2021 State Representative Mary Mushinsky (D-85th District) applauds the passage of H.B. 6302, AN ACT STUDYING THE CONSOLIDATION OF PUBLIC SAFETY ANSWERING POINTS today in the Connecticut House of Representatives. H.B. 6302, which was co-sponsored by Rep. Mushinsky, requires the creation of a working group to study the consolidation of public safety answering points into regionalized emergency call centers. A final report with recommendations by the working group would need to be submitted by January 1, 2023. "This is a bill that I first introduced several years ago, and I am glad to see that it has finally passed in the House," said Rep. Mushinsky. "Consolidating the more than 50 public safety answering points across Connecticut into larger centers that serve entire regions can potentially save municipalities and the state millions of dollars. With technological advances, many states have already taken advantage of this idea and the savings associated with it, and I believe it is time for Connecticut to do the same." The bill will now head to the State Senate for consideration. This press release was produced by CGA House Democrats. The views expressed here are the author's own.
