MANASSAS, VA — A man died on Sunday after his motorcycle crashed near Hornbaker Road and Industrial Road in Manassas. Police identified the man as Joshua Lee Jackson, a 23-year-old Manassas resident.
Police responded to the area of the crash just before 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 16. Investigators determined that Jackson was driving a 2007 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R southbound on Hornbaker Road when he lost control of his motorcycle, according to a report from the Prince William County Police Department.
Authorities said that the motorcycle ran off the right side of the roadway. Jackson struck a guide wire attached to an electric pole and was thrown from the motorcycle, according to police.
Jackson was taken to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment. However, he died on Sunday from injuries he suffered in the crash, authorities said.
The police department is still actively investigating the crash, but they noted that Jackson was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Investigators believe that speed may have been a factor in the crash, according to a police report.
