AUSTIN, TX — A person died after falling from a raft into the Colorado River in East Austin on Sunday afternoon, according to Austin-Travis County EMS.
Medics were called for a wilderness rescue around 2:34 p.m. near Ramirez Lane in East Austin after reports of a possible drowning, Austin-Travis County EMS reported Sunday in a Tweet.
A person fell off a raft and into the river, which runs through the area near John Trevino Jr. Metropolitan Park, after traveling over a low head dam, according to the Austin Fire Department.

Once first responders arrived, the person was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials did not provide the name, gender or exact age of the victim, though officials said they were an adult.
Medics turned the scene over to the Austin Police Department, which has not issued a statement about the incident.
