Des Moines Public Schools Student-Athletes Heading To 2021 State Track And Field Meet

Press release from the Des Moines Public Schools: May 16, 2021 All five DMPS high schools will be represented at the coed 2021 State Track & Field Meet coming up this week at Drake Stadium. Student-athletes from DMPS high schools will be competing in 27 different events. Among the DMPS student-athletes whose qualifying marks are among the top five in the state is Hoover 9th grader Jessica Kyne in both the 100m and 200m events. Roosevelt sophomore Arianna Jackson is also a top five qualifier in the 800m run as is teammate Abi Hahn in the 1500m run. East senior Abi Webb had the third highest qualifying mark in the high jump. On the boys side, top five state qualifiers include Roosevelt senior Kumunule Gbaley in the 200m and Hoover senior Mohamed Temsah in the 400m. Hoover's 4×400 relay team also had the third fastest qualifying time in Iowa. Good luck to all of the State qualifiers. There are restrictions in place at the year's state championship, such as limited attendance and face masks, aligned with current public health guidelines.
