MAHWAH, NJ — The township's annual fishing derby is back for the 31st year this month, and the recreation department has announced the schedule and details.
This year's derby will be held on May 29 starting at 10 a.m. Silver Creek Pond, located at the intersection of Airmont Avenue and Airmount Road.
Prizes will be awarded to contestants between the ages of five and 13 based on the size, and number of fish caught, the recreation department said. Trouts Unlimited volunteers will held measure each fish.
The contest is open to residents, and proof of residency will be required at registration, officials said.
"Please note the event will follow CDC and State guidelines for Covid-19 with markings painted every 6 feet with open space every other box for your safety. Come early to grab your spot as this is a limited access event based on the number of spaces available around the pond," officials said.
