FREEHOLD, NJ - A Freehold Borough family evacuated a Marcy Street residence on Sunday after a neighbor alerted them that the house was on fire. The electrical fire, which was reported around noon according to Freehold Borough Fire Chief Stephen Sheehan, is under investigation by the Monmouth County Fire Marshal's Office. All residents and first responders escaped without injury. The house sustained damage on its side facing Conover Street between its first and second floors, Sheehan said. The fire was extinguished relatively quickly with mutual aid response from the Adelphia Fire Co. and East Freehold Fire Co. Freehold EMS also responded to the scene. The New Jersey Red Cross wrote Sunday that volunteers aided a family of 10, providing temporary lodging, food and clothing needs. Refresh for updates. Patch will have more information as it comes in.
