REDONDO BEACH, CA — Redondo Beach City Manager Joe Hoefgen announced Monday that he plans to retire, according to the Daily Breeze. Hoefgen has led the city through challenging times, including the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. He took over the city's top position in 2014 as Interim City Manager and was appointed City Manager in January 2015 by the Mayor and City Council. Before taking the top position, he served as the Redondo Beach Community Services Director for about three years. Hoefgen has held city government positions in multiple states during his career, including Kansas, Texas and in four different Southern California cities. "It is with immense pride that I announce that this will be my final Redondo Beach Budget as I will retire in mid-November to begin the next chapter of my life," Hoefgen said.
