Description
MANHATTAN BEACH, CA —Prior to being forced into internment camps during WWII, many Japanese families owned swaths of land in Manhattan Beach.
In recognition of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, Fox 11's "Good Day LA" recounts the story of Francis Uyematsu, who ran one of his Star Nurserys on what is now Mira Costa High School.
The Manhattan Beach Unified School District's Board of Education will be honoring Uyematsu with the funding of a $4,000 monument on Mira Costa's campus.
Watch the video on FOX 11 Los Angeles.
