Description
My philosophy is "Everything I ever needed to know about business I learned on the sports field." From Behind The Scoreboard, I feature the sports stories that tell us much more than simply who won or lost. These personal and inspiring experiences of grade school, high school, college, other amateur and even pro athletes allow all of us to reflect a little more on what is important in life. ~ James C. Positive Changes For Girls, Women In Sports
Mary Cain is a runner, a world class runner. As a teen, she was the youngest U.S. athlete to compete on a world championship team.
Mary then went into serious training. However, that program affected her physical and emotional health. She lost weight, rebelled against herself and the sport she loved, and she thought about suicide.
Since then, Mary has spoken loudly about the treatment of girls and women in sports. Her goal is to ensure that other athletes, particularly girls and women, never endure similar suffering to improve their standing in a sport.
Read about Mary, her calls for changes and the specific changes that are occurring for female athletes in my blog.
