Planning on moving back to La Crosse after being gone for a decade

I've been gone for about ten years and am seriously considering moving back. I remember La Crosse as being a hidden gem of the midwest. I would love to get someone's opinion on the current state of the city. How is the housing market? How is the job market? In your opinion, is the place better or worse in the last decade?
