Apparently there is almost no music scene in the area (especially with Covid)-- minus rock (mostly cover) bands. I am posting to see if there would be interest in an open mic / house show at a private residence (mine). I write music; I want to meet others who do too. Open mics at bars and such often are questionable in their sound and many people who happen to be at the establishment are often not particularily excited about the goings on. Plus there is really no way to get around spending money as an attendee. I have a nice property/space. I could record/livestream the event to youtube. I have reasonable quality equipment. To keep the event small and under control I request folks who are interested in coming to reply to this add with a little bio and a sample of an original (a voice record would be fine). I will review and reply with further info. I am thinking the first one could be june sometime. The setting would be intimate with listeners close enough to not need a PA-- like a living room. I live in Cortland. As far as the itinerary i'm thinking 4 to 6 performers. Keep the whole thing to 2 hours. Family and friends would be welcome to come and bring snacks or whatever. BYOB. No drugs. I'm a married man with two small children. This show would take place after bedtime (7:30) (show would go from 8-10pm i'm thinking). I would like to do some sort of songwriter showcase like this once a quarter i'm thinking. This is not a show about me-- it is to meet local talented music folks.
