We Are the Seeds of CultureTrust is an Indigenous women-led non-profit organization that is committed to amplifying Indigenous voices through the arts. In its second year, We Are the Seeds Philadelphia 2021, a day long celebration of Indigenous arts and cultures, includes a fine art show, music, dance, storytelling, a cornhusk doll making workshop by Dawn Spears (Narragansett/Choctaw), live paint by Priscilla Bell (Taino), a photo exhibition featuring Benjamin West (Otoe-Missouria), and film screenings curated by American Indian Film Institute. The celebration will take place at Cherry Street Pier located at 121 N. Christopher Columbus Blvd, Philadelphia, PA 19106, from 12a-5p. Suggested donation is $10.
Artist booths include internationally known jewelry designer Tchin (www.tchindesigns.com), children’s book author Colleen Farwell (iwillcarryyouchildrensbook.com), and fashion designer Dawn Spears (https://www.facebook.com/kitompanisha). The Seeds Stage includes performances by We Are the Seeds Native American dance troupe, singer/songwriter Jennifer Kreisberg (jenniferkresiberg.com), The Magic of Storytelling with Tchin (themagicofstorytelling.com), and short films curated by American Indian Film Institute (aifisf.com).
