PORT WASHINGTON, NY — Residents in the Glen Cove School District will head to the polls on Tuesday to cast their ballots for a proposed $96 million spending plan for the 2021-22 school year and to elect school board trustees.
The proposed spending plan represents a 3.4% spending increase over last year, as well as a school tax levy of 1.66%.
Eight candidates are running for four open seats on the school district's Board of Education, according to liherald.com. The top three candidates, who garner the most votes, will serve three-year terms, and the fourth candidate will serve the remainder of a one-year term, the outlet reported.
The candidates include: David Huggins, Audre Lynne Hurston, Susan Jerzewski, Maureen Jimenez, Meghan Lavine, Anne Markoulis, Gail Nedbor-Gross, and Dr. Angela Ramiro, according to The Herald. To view the outlet's video interviews with the candidates, click here.
