Product Drive Benefits Stand Up. Period., a Local Alliance for Period Supplies Allied Program, in Recognition of Period Poverty Awareness As part of a national initiative to combat period poverty, U by Kotex and the National Foundation for Women Legislators (NFWL), in partnership with the Junior League of Wilmington and the Alliance for Period Supplies, invite the community to participate in the With You, She Can Period Product Drive on May 24, an initiative to raise awareness of period poverty and to collect period products to provide to those in need. Local volunteers and elected officials will join together to accept donations of period supplies from the general public, as well as pack the supplies to support the Junior League of Wilmington’s Stand Up. Period. campaign. Community members can also purchase products through the organization’s Amazon wish list. U by Kotex will match the total number of period supplies collected, with a donation of its own, up to 20,000. The event is being held in conjunction with Period Poverty Awareness Week. Community members are invited to drop off donations during the May 24 event. In Delaware, one in six women and girls between the age of 12 and 44 lives below the Federal Poverty Line. Lack of access to period supplies is linked to using substitute products, stretching product usage and even missing work, school or other important events. The Junior League of Wilmington’s Stand Up. Period. campaign is one of 100+ independently operated allied programs within the Alliance for Period Supplies network striving to help fill those gaps. Stand Up. Period. has distributed more than 71,658 period supplies in the past year to help people who menstruate get the products they require to thrive. U by Kotex became the founding sponsor of the Alliance for Period Supplies, an initiative of the National Diaper Bank Network, in 2018. Extending efforts beyond the With You, She Can Period Product Drive, here are some other ways community members can take action to end period poverty: Raise awareness: Post your support or something you’ve learned about period poverty in your community using the hashtags #WithUSheCan #EndPeriodPoverty and #StandUpPeriod Volunteer: Allied programs, like the Junior League of Wilmington’s Stand Up. Period. campaign, need communities to invest time, skills, experience and education. Visit jlwilmington.org/why-join/ for ways to get involved. Shop for the cause: On an ongoing basis, your purchase of U by Kotex products at participating retail partners will generate a donation to Alliance for Period Supplies and its allied programs. Visit ubykotex.com to learn more. Individuals in need of period products are encouraged to call 2-1-1 in their local community and ask for assistance. Nonprofit organizations interested in becoming involved with the Alliance for Period Supplies should contact the membership team at [email protected] or visit www.allianceforperiodsupplies.org for more information.
