Plastic recycling. Not all plastics are the same.

Description

There are at least 7 different types of plastics that are used to manufacture single use plastic items like bottles, bags, forks, straws, coffee lids etc. The plastics that have a 1 or a 2 in the recycle triangle on the bottom have a reasonable chance of being recycled is they are returned to a facility. Numbers 3 and above have virtually not value and no chance of being recycled. These go to landfill or even worse, they get shipped to countries that have no environmental laws and are burned for disposal. So my question is this- Why don’t we (manufacturers) decided on ONE type of plastic to make ALL disposable plastics out of? There would be no more sorting of plastics. Every item could go into one single use stream for recycling. One type of plastic increases the likelihood of recycling exponentially. Perhaps this plastic could be tinted a certain color to make it easy to identify. Every bag, every bottle, every shampoo bottle and straw could be reused. A simple solution to help solve a huge problem.
