WHO WE ARE: This position is at our Columbia facility. Our history dates all the way back to 1850 and we now have 11 manufacturing facilities across the US and Canada. We manufacture cast iron fittings and create designs for fabrication and commercial and oilfield piping. We’re fast-growing due to extremely high demand for production. We promote from within and this position offers a high potential for advancement. POSITION: The Machine Operator will operate various auto thread machines. The Operator is responsible for loading the machines with pieces of pipe that have been cut to a specified length per the production schedule (cut blanks). Some machines must be “hand-fed” by the Operator. The Operator uses his/her hands to pick up the cut blanks out of the tub and place them into the machine loading magazine (above shoulder reach). Other machines are fed automatically as the operator uses a rake to pull cut blanks into a large bowl that rotates and loads them into the machines. The operator may be responsible for running up to six machines based on production demands. REQUIRED SKILLS: -Requires constant standing and walking (up to 10 hours per day) -Repetitive use of both hands (up to 10 hours per day) -Requires repetitive twisting -Repetitive reaching at and above shoulder level and bending at the waist -Working with cutting oil -An awareness of exposed cuttings and moving parts on the machine -Lifting up to 50 lbs.
