Description
I have two boy African Soft Furred/ASF Rats looking for a new home.
I am not asking for a rehoming fee, I just ask that you send me some information about yourself and why you're interested in them. Please read through the entire post to make sure you know what you're getting into. As they are right now, they aren't great pets and will need a lot of work to tame down.
FULL DISCLOSURE: I haven't had them very long, only about 4 weeks. The person I got them from said they were both girls and tame, but neither ended up true. I got them to introduce some company to a lone girl ASF rat I have, so that isn't going to work out. Neither have bitten but they're both terrified of people and at best will freeze up when you try to touch them, or they'll make a mad dash to hide or escape.
They will also chew through anything plastic or wood, they've destroyed "chew proof" glass water bottles by destroying the plastic cap on it, and they've chewed through multiple different types of silent plastic wheels. You will also need to be sure any wood in their cage is actually safe to chew and expect them to destroy it fairly quick.
They're very fast,
can jump surprisingly well,
and would be very difficult to catch if they ever escape.
They will also chew through anything "chewable" -- from the paint over wire enclosures, to the silicone corner seals in glass tanks, or any other chewable plastic/wood thing within their reach.
I'd only recommend them to someone who has a lot of space for a decent chew-proof enclosure in another room (they're very active and loud at night) and who either doesn't care about ever handling them much, or has a lot of time to work with them in a room they can't easily escape in if they get away from you.
