JOIN US WEDNESDAY, JUNE 9 FOR A FASCINATING PROGRAM ON ANCIENT ALES PRESENTED BY DR. PATRICK MCGOVERN AT KING'S ROAD BREWING COMPANY On June 9, 2021, starting at 7:00 PM the Historical Society of Haddonfield will host Dr. Patrick McGovern at King’s Road Brewing Company, 131 Kings Highway East, Haddonfield, NJ 08033. Dr. McGovern's program is sponsored by WhitePenny - a full-service brand and digital strategy firm based in Haddonfield. Light fare and snacks will be provided. Some snacks have been generously donated by Sparrow's Gourmet Snacks. All proceeds benefit the Historical Society of Haddonfield. Dr. McGovern is a Scientific Director at the University of Pennsylvania Museum in Philadelphia and is an Adjunct Professor of Anthropology. He is the author of several books, including "Ancient Brews, Rediscovered and Re-created." There will be an opportunity to purchase signed copies of his books that evening. Dr. McGovern’s lecture will focus on the history of alcohol and its relationship to evolution. He will discuss the historical importance of fermented beverages and discuss the discovery of ancient beverages. Also, on this night, King's Road will release their own ancient ale, Gordian Knot, brewed in collaboration with Dr. McGovern and using his recipes. Ticket holders will be the first to get a chance to taste this complex, co-fermented brew, made with saffron and honey. VIP Pre-event: for an additional fee the ticket holder joins a select group of 50 people at a pre-event meet and greet with Dr. McGovern from 6:15pm to 7:00pm. King's Road Brewing Company will be open to ticket holders only, their full complement of beverages will be available for purchase, including water, and non-alcoholic home-made sodas. All King's Road servers will be masked and gloved. All tables are socially distant. Most guests will be seated at tables. There are a small number of seats available at the bar.
