Racist Post Circulated In Tosa; No Threat To Students, Police Say

WAUWATOSA, WI— The Wauwatosa School District said it condemns racist, hateful language and violent behavior in response to what it described as "appalling" videos that are being circulated among some high school students. "It is absolutely not reflective of our values as an educational community. We understand how hurtful this behavior is to our school community, and remain steadfast in our commitment to supporting our students' safety, well-being, identity and education," the district said in a letter to students, families and staff. Patch found an image on social media showing a young person's face with text that said, "I'm going to kill a Black person today." Sgt. Abby L. Pavlik of the Wauwatosa Police confirmed the department is aware of the post. The videos that were circulated were related to the post, Pavlik said. "The department and Wauwatosa West's student resource officer are working with the Wauwatosa School District regarding the entire situation. Based on our initial investigation, there is no credible threat to Wauwatosa West or students," she said. The district said it will continue to make the schools safe places for all students by providing support and space for open and honest conversations.
