Share your culture and heritage with a gathering of individuals who are interested in learning about you and other diverse neighbors. The Rogers Experimental House invites friends and neighbors from different cultures to participate in a social setting to recognize World Day for Cultural Diversity. COVID-19 has had a drastic impact on the Cultural Sector. With cultural events cancelled, cultural institutions closed, community cultural practices suspended, many organizations have suffered. The impact of COVID-19 on the cultural sector is being felt around the world. and protecting the diversity of cultural expressions is more important than ever. Why does cultural diversity matter? Three-quarters of the world’s major conflicts have a cultural dimension. Bridging the gap between cultures is urgent and necessary for peace, stability and development. Cultural diversity is a driving force of development, not only with respect to economic growth, but also as a means of leading a more fulfilling intellectual, emotional, moral and spiritual life. This is captured in the culture conventions, which provide a solid basis for the promotion of cultural diversity. Cultural diversity is thus an asset that is indispensable for poverty reduction and the achievement of sustainable development. At the same time, acceptance and recognition of cultural diversity – in particular through innovative use of media and Information and Communications Technologies are conducive to dialogue among civilizations and cultures, respect and mutual understanding. Participants are encouraged to wear or bring clothing and accessories or bring art or stories that are reflective of their own culture and ethnicity. The sharing of musical instruments or other symbols of your culture are also welcome. United Nations ambassador for the arts, Ibiyinka Alao, will be our featured speaker and we will be showcasing his messages of peace and forgiveness and his original art and music including one of the worlds largest paintings. We will be serving refreshments including wine and an assortment of prepackaged snacks that are reflective of many different cultures represented in Northwest Arkansas.
