Description

Press release from the City of Ames: May 14, 2021 The Ames City Council will gather at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 18, via Zoom teleconference for a special meeting to discuss possible revisions to the current face covering ordinance. The ordinance, which expires on June 30, requires face coverings be worn inside public space and outside when unable to socially distance. No action will be taken at this meeting, and there will be no public input. "With the latest recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) relaxing many mask restrictions for fully vaccinated people, there has been some confusion surrounding the Ames ordinance," said Ames Mayor John Haila. "This meeting will allow the City Council to consider and discuss the latest public health guidance and to place this item on the agenda for action on May 25." Although there will be no public input at this meeting, residents are encouraged to share their thoughts with City Councilmembers through email at [email protected] Information, supplemental material, and details on Ames City Council meetings are posted at www.CityOfAmes.org/CCMeetings.
