Male Soul/R&B Singer needed

Denton TX

Description

Tower of Power tribute band Urban Renewal is reforming after a hiatus of about 8 years and is gearing up to funkifize the Metroplex again! The band had a very successful prior run about 10-15 years ago including performances at the Richardson Wildflower Festival (pictured -- opening for The Wailers and Robert Randolph & The Family Band), the main stage at the State Fair of Texas, and Grapevine Main Street Days among others, and regular club dates at Scat Jazz Lounge in Ft. Worth that were typically SRO. Our former lead singer moved to Austin, so all we need to kick this thing back off is a funky engaging charismatic lead vocalist to front the band. We had a few rehearsals early last year pre-covid and things were already so tight it was like we never stopped. With the right person in front, it will not take this band long to cut a demo and be ready to book dates again. We've got about 50 tunes in steady rotation and about 50 more in the book or in the files spanning the entire recording history of Tower of Power, so it helps greatly if you come in already knowing much of their work. Rehearsal specifics are still being worked out but right now it's looking like Denton on Tuesday nights once or twice a month. Individual preparation outside of rehearsals is critical because we use rehearsal time to tighten and refine the ensemble sound, work background vocal harmonies, etc. It's not time to work on individual execution details. So whether you sound like Larry Braggs or Lenny Williams or Brent Carter or Tom Bowes or Ray Greene or Marcus Scott or Ellis Hall or Rick Stevens or Rufus Miller or Ed McGee or Michael Jeffries or anything in between, if you're a big Tower fan like we are and think you're the guy we're looking for, drop us a line and please include some links to audio or video.
