Hartung Brothers offers agriculture contracts for vegetables and seed corn to both farmers and processors. As an agri-business company engaged in agriculture, Hartung Brothers currently has the following employment opportunity available at our Kekaha, HI location (Kauai): Position Title: Temporary/Seasonal Production & Supply Technician (Non-Exempt) Tentative Start Date: 5/24/2021 Tentative End Date: Mid-end August 2021 Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Field Activities: Roguing, processing, fencing, hand detassel and hand harvest. Harvest: Green corn sorting, harvest cleanup, moisture sampling, shelling. Warehouse and Distribution: Floor jack operation, able to move heavy loads, packaging shipments. Other: Various maintenance activities as needed. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Details: • Ability to walk fields in all weather conditions and on various types of terrain. • Ability to work in cold, hot, humid, and dusty conditions; work with seed treatments. • Ability to be on your feet for a majority of the day; frequent standing and walking including climbing stairs, ladders and inclined walkways; frequent bending and stooping, repetitive pulling, pushing, while holding objects (roguing), bending and crawling to perform maintenance/cleaning, frequent standing and/or sitting while reaching with repetitive tossing (sort line). • Ability to work long hours during peak periods • Ability to lift 50 lbs. • Ability to wear PPE when required. Experience: 1. High School diploma or have GED degree. 2. Good organizational and communication skills. 3. Ability to be flexible, adaptable, safety-oriented and will have a willingness to learn all aspects of seed handling at the site. Expected Hours of Work This is a temporary seasonal non-exempt position. Position may require work on holidays, weekends and overtime. This job description should not be considered all-inclusive.
