This event will be outdoors and in person at the Breathing Room Space & Su Casa garden, 5045 S Laflin.
Masks required—please practice care for community.
The Visualizing Breath (1:30-2:00PM) workshop will be led by Patricia Nguyen, artist, educator, and award-winning memorial designer for the Chicago Torture Justice Memorial, the first monument in the United States to honor survivors of police violence.
Experimental Black Dance (2:00-4:00PM) engages participants in trauma-informed dance education, which uses movement to investigate historical pain and somatic memory in order to heal and construct wellness-centered perspectives. This session will offer a preview of a more extensive 8-week summer series we'll offer in partnership with Old Town School of Folk Music this June!
