MALDEN, MA — The nationwide manhunt for a Malden man accused of murdering a Yale graduate student ended Friday. Qinxuan Pan, 29, was caught in Montgomery, Alabama by the U.S. Marshals Service, Massachusetts State Police spokesman Dave Procopio said. The MSP's Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section assisted in the arrest. Pan is accused of fatally shooting Kevin Jiang, 26, an Army veteran who was attending Yale's School of the Environment, in the East Rock neighborhood of New Haven Feb. 6. Pan, a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, was named a person of interest in Jiang's murder less than a week after the shooting. In late February, police issued a warrant for his arrest on charges of murder and larceny. Authorities offered a $10,000 reward for Pan's capture and obtained a "red notice" warrant through Interpol, calling on member countries to arrest him if he fled the United States. Prior to his capture, Pan was last seen driving with family members in Georgia in late February.
