BROOKFIELD, WI—Target Stores have temporarily suspended sales of sports and Pokémon trading cards after a fight at a Brookfield Target store. The retailer said in a statement: "The safety of our guests and our team is our top priority," Target said in a statement. "Out of an abundance of caution, we've decided to temporarily suspend the sale of MLB, NFL, NBA and Pokémon trading cards within our stores, effective May 14. Guests can continue to shop these cards online at Target.com." It is not known when the retailer will resume the sale of trading cards. City of Brookfield Police responded to a fight-in-progress on May 7 at Target, 12725 W. Bluemound Rd., according to a police news release. Callers reported witnessing several people involved and that they were actively fighting outside the store entrance. It was also reported that one person was armed with a handgun, police said.Through investigation, it was determined that a 35-year-old male victim was physically assaulted by four males ranging in age from 23-35 years of age as he exited the store. Investigation revealed the altercation appeared to have stemmed from a disagreement involving the purchase/possession of sports trading cards obtained from Target, police said.During the assault, the victim who is a valid CCW holder, was able to access his firearm at which point his attackers fled on foot, police said. All four were located in the surrounding area and taken into custody. The victim suffered minor injuries, police said.
