ACTON, MA — Fifty-one percent of Acton residents are fully vaccinated, according to state data released Thursday evening. Roughly 3.09 million people have been full vaccinated in Massachusetts, the state reported Thursday—that's roughly 45 percent. A third of Acton residents under the age of 30 have received at least the first dose — this data set includes numbers from the first three weeks all people over age 16 were eligible. Nearly 90 percent of Acton's oldest residents — people over the age of 75 — have received both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, according to the state's data. Fully vaccinated people no longer have to wear masks indoors, with some exceptions including visits to the doctor and traveling on public transportation, the CDC announced Monday afternoon. "Anyone who is fully vaccinated can participate in indoor and outdoor activities, large or small, without wearing a mask or physical distancing,'' said CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky at a White House briefing on Monday. "If you are fully vaccinated, you can start doing the things that you had stopped doing because of the pandemic.'' Some have suggested that people who were hesitant to get the vaccine may be more inclined to do so now.
