BASIC FUNCTION: Janitorial/custodial work at a prestigious residential condominium building in the Lake Merritt area. Part-time, 6a-12p Mondays. Essential functions: Sweep, mop, strip, wax, and seal floors; vacuum rugs and carpets. Dust, wash, and polish furniture and woodwork. Empty and clean waste receptacles, including trash barrels. Clean employee restroom, kitchen and residents’ laundry room. Wash windows and wall Cover doorman lunch period – includes parking and retrieving vehicles from building garage (and use of vehicle elevator) for residents, greeting residents, accepting packages, general assistance to residents Mowing, edging, trimming of landscaping Pick up litter from grounds, walk areas, and the areas adjacent to the building. Perform special maintenance projects as assigned. Perform emergency cleanup service resulting from breakage, vandalism, spilling, and illness. Assist in maintaining building security and fire safety as assigned; assist in maintaining fire extinguishers. Communicate well with building residents and doorman colleagues. Perform minor maintenance work as assigned. Perform related duties as assigned. Environment & Physical requirements: Indoor and outdoor environment; driving a vehicle; operating a vehicle elevator; some exposure to chemicals related to cleaning; working around machinery with moving parts; dexterity of hands and fingers to operate assigned tools and equipment; seeing to perform custodial work; reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally; bending at the waist, kneeling or crouching; lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling moderately heavy objects; standing for extended periods of time; performing heavy physical labor. This role could also be cross-trained with the doorman role to provide support and sick/vacation coverage.
