Description

Join the St. Petersburg Urban Forestry Committee for a Tree Inventory Class and Work Day in Forrest Bluff Park Come outside, make friends, get in touch with nature, and enjoy the trees that help make St. Pete such a great place to live! What to bring: outdoor clothes, sunscreen, and a reusable water bottle (water cooler on site). What's provided: Tree inventory equipment and training on tree species identification and measurement. St. Pete Tree Map is free and open to the public. What this event is all about: Our urban trees are our closest connection to nature – providing a wide array of environmental, economic, and health benefits. They give our neighborhoods their unique character, our pets and loved ones a shady place to walk and rest, and the more adventurous among us a lofty structure to climb and explore. For all they offer, St. Petersburg’s trees are often unseen and unnoticed. You can change this. You can record the trees in your neighborhood and show the rest of the City the good that they do. You can help put trees on the map (literally) so those looking to improve our community can make more informed planning and design decisions. Together, we can collect the information needed to create a resilient, diverse, and equitable urban forest for all who call St. Petersburg their home. Gotta log 'em all! Earn points for the trees you inventory! Monthly/ yearly leader boardsBonus points for rare and large specimensBonus points for attending work day eventsQuestions?
