Elmhurst Mayor's Campaign Backers Get Key Assignments

ELMHURST, IL — Campaign supporters of Elmhurst Mayor Scott Levin received key committee assignments, which the city released Thursday. The council is expected to vote on the mayor's selections Monday. Before the April 6 election, then-Alderman Levin drew more City Council endorsements than his two rivals, Mark Mulliner and Michael Bram. Levin's aldermanic backers were Marti Deuter, Bob Dunn, Tina Park and Dannee Polomsky. The 14-member council has four committees — Public Affairs and Safety, Public Works, Finance, and Development, Planning and Zoning. Deuter was nominated to head the Public Affairs and Safety Committee, replacing Polomsky, who is taking over the Development, Planning and Zoning Committee. Polomksy is replacing Mulliner supporter Michael Honquest, who is moving 6to become vice chairman of the Public Works Committee. For the Public Works Committee, Alderman Mike Brennan was named to take charge. He is the only non-Levin supporter selected to chair a committee. Brennan endorsed his fellow Ward 7 alderman, Mulliner. The Public Works chairman was Jim Kennedy, but he decided not to run again. Dunn was named to lead the Finance Committee, replacing Alderwoman Noel Talluto, a Mulliner backer. She was named as the Finance Committee's vice chairwoman. Levin's opponents, Mulliner and Bram, were aldermen. Mulliner remains on the council and was selected as vice chairman of Development, Planning and Zoning. Bram's council term expired. Levin became mayor last week, replacing Steve Morley, who did not seek a third term.
