Anyone wanna make music more experimental than mellow jam bands?

Anyone else feel like the music scene around here is too same-sounding and bland. I’m a guitarist who moved here last summer, and I feel like this scene could use something more interesting than mellow jam bands playing covers and wanting to make people chill out. I’m talking about the psychedelic rock of Zappa, Velvet Underground, early Pink Floyd, Can, Captain Beefheart, and many others. I love all kinds of music from the above groups, to garage rock, to jazz, soul/r&b, prog, post punk, and the broad genre of alternative music. I don’t really have any songs or preexisting ideas in mind. I just wanna put together a band of like minded musicians who want to do something daring and experimental, and give audiences a challenging and moving experience, not just a “good time vibe”.
